④ Fluff → Something that is devoid of angst. It's light-hearted and might have the overtone of romance.

⑥ Your choice → Think of your own scenario, choose one of the above or make a combo even!

ACTION.

① Zombies → It's the zombie apocalypse, lock and load!

ANGST.

① Injury / illness → Your character has become injured or ill! To what extent is the mun's choice.

[The added strength to the blasts is unexpected but not unwelcome; as Altius watches the creature fall, his hand leaves the young man's head, but his other remains on the shoulder. He's clearly got it covered.

It thuds to the ground, and more dust from the wreckage falls from above. Once it's obvious his judgment was correct, his eyes turn away from the doomed creature to the glowing red of those beams, and then once they're gone, the mutant that's their source.

Though the strain in his quiet voice is genuine, so is the underlying surety.]

Good.

[He lets himself fall to his side, elbow no longer supporting him, and takes a moment to breathe before assessing. Fractured rib, leg lacerations, sprained ankle. His lower half is pinned beneath the rubble; the swelling is going to be unpleasant, but necessary to follow through with his ruse. People would notice an unnaturally quick recovery.

His eyes go to the boy. Scott certainly seems to be no worse than nervous—understandable, given everything—but it would be amiss to not make sure.]

... Are you alright?

[Altius hadn't missed the clear worry in his face, even if he'd only caught a glance of it in his focus on the task. He's starting to get something like a solid picture of the lad, and it's one he can't say he dislikes.]

[...They won.

Scott of course knew this from the moment he saw the creature collapse onto the ground, but as that adrenaline slowly leaves his body, the impact of that knowledge truly starts to settle in. They... they stopped something that was terrorizing others, saved the city, and he actually did something good with his powers for once. Instead of accidentally hurting another student and costing damages to his school, he did something worthwhile. Something... proud builds in his chest, especially as he hears the older man give that single word of approval.

Yeah. They did do good.

However, those congratulatory feelings immediately disappear when he's suddenly reminded of Zekarion's injury and Scott stumbles over to his side, only able to get this far by the sound of his voice. This stupid old man... asking Scott if he's okay when he's the one bleeding and everything! H-He doesn't even know how badly injured he is and that part scares him.]

S-shut up. [He says roughly, but there's no disguising the worry in his voice as he inches just a little closer. It's clear he's trying to reach out, his hand extended for Zekarion, but he's really not used to being blind.] H-how badly are you hurt? We need to get someone to help you!

[chimericalclaw]

Well enough to yell at me, then, [he remarks, answering his own question with the observation. He trusts the young man to stay on task, so Altius will do what he can to ease his nerves rather than trying to focus on the urgency.

He doesn't leave Scott's question unanswered for long, even if he needs to take a slow breath before replying to avoid causing himself more pain than necessary. He attempts to inject a bit of lightness into his tone as he takes the hand searching for him, his grip still supportive even if a tremor or two might be noticeable.]

I've had my tetanus shot, so I think I'll survive.

[Nobody in Zekarion's life has ever called him funny and unfortunately that will continue.]

Will you tell me your name?

This fucking asshole. He is not funny!! In fact, he's officially the most unfunny person he's ever met and that's say something. Look, there's a lot of loser adults in his life, so.]

You're a dick, you know that?

[He's so mad!! Scott almost wants to kick him, but guess if the old man has enough energy to make stupid jokes, then he's probably not bleeding out. Right?? Right. He better not, at least, or Scott's going to find a way to kick his ass in the afterlife. He'll develop a mutation just for that, just watch him. That angry little look on Scott doesn't leave him, but it's clear he's also relieved.

It doesn't stop the mutant from holding his hand just a little tighter, like he's reassuring himself that Zekarion is okay. As long as his grip is firm, that means he's still with it and everything.]

Scott. [He eventually answers, some attitude in his voice because that's just how he is and because he still hasn't forgiven the older man for his earlier comment.] Scott Summers. What's your name? So I can tell the medics in case you pass out from me kicking your ass.

[And not from blood loss.......]

[The forceful retort drags a laugh that's almost entirely genuine out of Atlius—unfortunately, halfway through the second one, he's drawing in a hiss through his teeth and tightening his grip on Scott's hand. He is a dick, but one that's currently injured. Have mercy, child.]

Ah, don't make me laugh, [he manages to get out without wheezing. Thankfully the pause before he gets the answer he was looking for gives him time to steady himself again.]

Scott, [he repeats for good measure, if just to display his intent to remember.] Call me Altius.

[As tempting as it might be, he decides to forego any comments about his backside being unavailable at the moment. Rather, he gets to business:]

The wall directly behind you has an opening... wide enough to climb through. Turning left from there should point you in the direction of the responders close enough to hear. Tell them I'm trapped under the rubble... and it's cut into my leg.

Well, don't laugh then!

[Easy solution!! Scott's cheeks are puffed in a pout, not that he'd ever claim he was doing such a thing, but how else does one react to a guy like this?? Someone injured but laughing, asking about Scott's condition, and still holding his hand. He's not sure if it's because the old man-- Altius is the first person here that truly helped him out or if it's something more, but there's no denying that growing attachment. Scott doesn't fully recognize that emotion for what it is, but it's there, waiting to strengthen.]

Altius. [He repeats, acknowledging his name, maybe just making sure that he doesn't forget it. It's the only thing he really knows about the other man, other than his voice. Maybe, when he's healed, he'll ask what he looks like. ...Or is that fuckin' embarrassing??

But right, first, medical attention. Scott frowns as he listens to his instructions, but he's taking in every word. It's going to be hard to navigate even with these directions, but whatever anxiety or uncertainty he has will just need to be pushed down. After all, he needs his help.]

Okay. [He's tempted to tell him to stay there, but he knows that would only draw some other stupid sarcastic remark from him.] I'll be back. Don't collapse or die out on me.

[With that, Scott slowly releases his hand and straightens up, only looking disoriented for a moment before he starts heading towards the opening Altius pointed out.]

[Collapse? If only he could be so lucky. No, even if he were injured enough for that to be a potential, he couldn't allow himself to let his guard down that far.]

Be careful.

[It wouldn't do to have his would-be savior trip and fall on his face on the way to get help. He'd be stubborn enough to get to his feet and continue anyway, Zekarion is sure, but better to not delay any longer than necessary. He doesn't really want the time to dwell on how it's going to get worse before it gets better.

He watches Scott's uncertain steps, and then the young man is out of sight. The momentary solitude allows him a few moments to... do nothing, at least. Fake nothing, feel nothing, think nothing. He can allow himself a minute of that, even if he makes sure to remain aware of the surroundings.

... but it's not long before thoughts emerge regardless. How the locals respond to this incident and his involvement will determine how much regret he'll have to express for such an apparently reckless idea; the boy probably won't protest overly given his apparent personality and their success, but Scott's not the only one he has to account for. Plus there's the emergence of that creature in the first place to discover, and its purpose. He needs more information...

Meanwhile, Scott won't have to go far before he's met with a few of the locals and other hero-sorts who've come to assist. With the monster stilled, they're quick to approach to deal with the aftermath—there are no doubt a number of other people who were unable to flee in time, even aside from the work they'll need to put in to sort through the debris.

A woman's voice calls him kid and asks if he's hurt. Other footsteps pass him quickly with equipment on wheels, searching for survivors, accompanied by calls for responses. Sirens sound in the distance, gradually approaching.]

[Luckily, Scott doesn't trip, as unsteady as his movements are sometimes. The first few blind steps are the hardest, but he eventually manages a pace, only sometimes slowing down when he has to make a turn or his feet bump into rubble. It's all frustrating, wandering around like this, but the thought of Altius lying injured and bleeding because of him is more than enough to motivate the young mutant. He's not going to stop, not until he knows his-- the older man gets help. At least the increasing volume of nearby responders drive that hope up, pushing Scott to almost recklessly cross any remaining distance as the woman meets with him.

Kid. The address would normally annoy Scott, but he's far too distracted, shaking his head at her question and only getting frustrated when he's asked again if he's hurt. No, no, he's fine. He's not the one that needs medical assistance. His eyes are shut because... he's weird, that's all. It's not because he's injured, really! Eventually, Scott's jaw clenches and he eventually shouts, his tone slicing through their commentary.]

No! But someone else is hurt, back... behind me. Please, you need to help him!

[Has he always sounded so desperate? But situation calls for it. He barely even waits for them to acknowledge his plea for help, already nodding back and trying to lead the medics over to Altius' position. Thankfully, they don't push Scott with any more questions, only stepping up to assist his trek back as they search for the injured person that the young teen mentioned.]

[Given Scott's apparent lack of external injury and the fact that he's coherent and walking around definitely helps with the shift of focus—whatever's going on with the young man and his closed eyes, it's not as dire as other victims the medics will have to worry about more immediately.

From where he lies, Zekarion can faintly hear the distant shouting from Scott, and a single, quiet heh leaves him. It's endearing, really—and it gives him something else to think about as the responders approach. He can't let the boy fret quite so much without protest...

But after a few moments, the sound of footsteps approaches. Another slow breath allows him the opportunity to project his voice so that it comes out evenly:]

In here.

[Does he sound too calm, maybe? Well, it's too late now. He can always chalk it up to not wanting the young man to worry and a few other things—like how they seem to be well equipped, and that the group is certainly a decent enough size to get this damned concrete slab off of him. He remains patient through their initial checks, answering questions with the appropriate amount of detail, but not too much—it hurts to breathe, something's cutting into his thigh, he's losing feeling in his lower leg.

But then they explain that they have to get to the part that is, plainly, going to suck. Three of the responders have moved to lift the debris, and another two are ready to pull him free.

Altius glances to his new companion.]

Scott—cover your ears.

[Altius might've been okay enough to sass him earlier, but that doesn't erase that visible worry on Scott's face as the responders rush over to the injured man's side. He desperately wants to help, but he knows that he'd only get in the way, forcing him to stand to the side with one hand clenched around his arm as he hones in on what the medics are saying about his injuries. It's the only thing he can do and he wants to know how badly he's actually hurt.

It doesn't sound good, especially since they can't see all of his injuries with the debris on top of him, but Scott tries to remain calm. T-they're going to help and they actually can, if going by what they're saying. It's the only relief he can cling to as he continues to keep his eyes closed.]

What-- why?

[He's already blind, the thought of blocking out another sense doesn't sit too well with Scott. The frown on him only deepens, although Altius may notice that he's still lifting his hands closer to his ears. He hasn't completed in covering them, but he's definitely gotten ready, just because he asked.]

[After Scott's impressive attempts to keep it together, it's only fair he expresses that he's been putting on a bit of a brave face himself.]

For the sake of my pride. Please.

[The medics don't wait for Scott, whatever his choice is; they count down from five, then put all their effort into raising the slab—which they're going to have to do more than a little, given the—bars, nails, whatever it is that have found a place in his leg. Unfortunately, given the weight of the rubble, it's not a quick process, so it's rather like a very slow and shaky removal of jagged knives.

Even if he were inclined to, he's sure he wouldn't be able to hold back the resulting scream of pain. Really, most of his self control goes towards not immediately crushing the arms of those who've got a grip on him with his magical strength, as his instinct is yelling at him to do. Fuck, that hurts. As many things as his Gem and pact grant him, enhanced pain tolerance is not one of them. Whatever words of support the woman might have for him are drowned out by what feels like a deafening ringing in his ears.

He reminds himself that pain always seems to drag on longer than it actually does. From Scott's perspective, it's only a few seconds before the two holding Altius's arms are certain he's no longer stuck and hurry to slide him out of the way, after which the other three drop the slab with a thud and start to prepare the gurney and other supplies.

Well, the hard part is over, at least. He's not about to forget that one, though, and as much as he'd like to catch his breath, shallow panting is the best he can do right now. (This had better be worth it, Altius.)]

[It's not difficult to put two and two together from there and it almost makes Scott stubbornly refuse his request even more because he should hear the pain that Altius is going through. He... if he didn't go out of his way to carry Scott around him, to protect him, he wouldn't be in this current state. However, as the medics start counting down, he lifts his hands to his ears, half-heartedly covering them as '1' resounds in the air around them.

He's just doing this because Altius asked, pleaded him to.

Maybe it's a good thing he listened to his instructions because soon his pained screams break through the air. They're still loud enough to echo in the mutant's ears, Scott flinching as he instinctively covers them more. It feels longer than a few seconds to him, but definitely not as long as it'd feel for Altius himself. Once the screaming stops, once he hears the debris slam back down on the ground, Scott uncovers his ears and looks in the direction of where he still hears the medics tending to him.]

...You're not dying on me, right?

[Yes, there are still a flurry of rescuers around that he could've asked that question to, but he wants to hear from the older man himself, assuming that he's still conscious.]

[A shaky chuckle leaves him—which is much more manageable than an outright laugh, leaving him none the worse for wear. He's more quiet than before, though the certainty in his tone has returned.]

You won't be rid of me that quickly.

[He can focus his attention fully on Scott now, knowing that for now, the medics won't need much more from him aside from the occasional check in and letting them move this or that. As the group tends to his injuries, the woman adds to Altius's reassurance, telling the kid he's just gonna be off his feet for a while.]

I've recovered from worse. [That draws a raised eyebrow from one of the medics that Scott can't see and Zekarion ignores, but enough about him.] Come towards my voice.

[He'll direct Scott with specifics assuming he does as asked—which he's all but certain of at this point—and when he's close enough, Zekarion will put a hand on his arm. Perhaps it will help to ground the young man as he lowers his voice, meant to signal that his words are for Scott alone.]

You've been very brave, Scott. It's alright now.

[He's chuckling again, but it feels better this time, now that he's being tended to. The woman's further reassurance only helps, letting that knot of anxiety that's been wholly solid in his chest slowly deflate. He'll actually be okay-- he'll be okay. Scott won't lose the first person that's been nice to him in this world, someone that believed in him, even though he really had no reason to.

He'll be fine.

There's little time to question the whole 'recovered from worse' comment, not when Altius asks him to come closer. With everything that's happened and how much trust the older man's given him, Scott doesn't even hesitate to follow his command, feet unsteadily walking closer to the injured man. It'd be embarrassing if he tripped and fell now, even though his body feels like doing so after the way his emotions have jumped around the past couple of hours.

He wasn't sure what to expect from Altius, but the comforting hand on him is surprising. Maybe it shouldn't be, not after how kind and supportive he's been, but the gesture still gets Scott's face to crumble, eyes tightening behind his shades as tears well up in them. Every touch feels more sensitive with his vision robbed from him, taking the comfort for what it is. His words telling him that he's been brave only increases that feeling with the mutant only being able to nod in response.]

O-okay. [There's no hiding the waver in his voice. He can't hide the watery note in his tone as he desperately tries to not cry in front of him, but his lips tremble, unable to push back his reactions.] You promise, right?

[Zekarion watches Scott carefully, filing away his response into memory. It's always good to see he can still coax out the reactions he's looking for and predict them well enough, even if he can't say this particular one took much finesse. The poor young man must be shaken, and Altius has to wonder what else might have contributed other than this incident in particular. That power of his, for instance? He's clearly unused to a lack of vision. His questions from before are more relevant now that the danger has passed...

He squeezes Scott's arm briefly as an extra reassurance as he answers:]

I promise. [He lets out an audible breath, almost like an unwinding of his own nerves. Even if he wasn't sincerely panicked, it would be a lie to say the situation wasn't tense. The pain of his injuries and the medics treating them can now be placed into the background of his mental processes, as long as he's careful about how he moves. He won't be shouting for a bit either because of that rib, but that's hardly a problem; investigation and quiet conversation is all he's interested in for the next while, anyway. Somebody else can handle the next giant monster.]

Now, then. Why don't you tell me why you were walking around without some kind of assistance?

[It's best not to push that emotional envelope too far so soon. People typically appreciate distractions when they're trying to hold back their feelings, so he'll give Scott that opportunity.]

[Don't mind Scott as he keeps nearby, not wanting to leave Zekarion's side. Just also ignore the small sniffling from him, his free hand rising to rub at his closed eyes. Don't cry... that'd be so embarrassing, but feelings are stupid.]

W-what? You're seriously asking me that now?

[Yeah Altius will be fine, but that doesn't erase the fact that he's still injured and everything!! He should be resting instead of trying to talk, especially since all he seems to be doing is directing the topic of conversation back to him. Scott's fine!! H-he'll be fine, anyway. He just needs to ask for another bandage to wrap around his eyes, so that he can be extra sure that he doesn't accidentally open them and kill someone.

Oh and stop himself from crying, that's a big one.]

You should be resting and saving your strength. [At least he's focused on arguing with him now...]

[He keeps his hand on Scott's arm, leaving the connection there for the younger man's sake, though he lets it slide down so he doesn't have to keep his arm raised.

A slow breath leaves his nose at the response. Altius sounds a little put off, just enough to imply the unimpressed look he's giving Scott.]

I am resting. [can't believe he's being mother henned by a damn teenager—but he supposes this is what he signed up for. It might almost be cute.]

I hope you're not asking me to lie here and do nothing but think about how long I'll be in the hospital.

[Don't do that to him, lad. You'd be helping him out to answer the question. Really! His tone doesn't actually imply any real offense, even if the sarcasm is clear; there's a hint of a tease in it, too. Don't force him to start "joking" again.]

[It's kind of incredible that he can still tell what sort of expression Altius is giving him, just by the tone that he's using. Who said you'd need to see someone's exasperated face to understand it? Maybe if they knew each other for a long time it would make more sense, but nope, he can still almost picture a man lying in pain and making a face.

...Granted, he can't even picture anything of his features, but Scott's general impression is of a man that's sort of dignified. Strong. Kind. Oh, and maybe serious with the worst jokes in the world. Please, spare him.]

Maybe I am. [Pout. But fine. Guess he can answer him if it'll help take his mind off being stuck in the hospital. That is probably going to suck, Scott can sympathize with that.]

...I was walking around by myself because no one wanted to help me. [Because he sort of told them to fuck off but yanno.]

[A mild furrow comes to his brow; unnecessary, perhaps, but there's no use in not matching his expression to his tone.]

[If he sounds fully sincere, that's because he genuinely is—for the most part. Even if Scott had been combative, that was no true excuse for leaving the boy to fend for himself. If he truly believed in the good in people, it would be hard for him to think of everyone in Scott's path simply letting him struggle on his own.

But it's not a surprise to him that others would leave. The reasons could be anything from impatience to selfishness to a simple lack of caring. People are worthless no matter what world they're from; that had been proven quickly enough after he got here, and this is only further confirmation. He could ask how long Scott has been here, but it's ultimately irrelevant. What's more important to know...]

[He'll keep it more vague for now since the medics are still within earshot, regarding Scott's powers; he doesn't know if the young man wants to immediately be known as the one who destroyed that creature. No doubt rumors are spreading even now about those red beams.]
