Ryoko's Crown Noble Meme Thing!

It's a seemingly normal world, no magic or supernatural things wreaking havoc. You go to school or work, living your life. You have friends and family, go to the movies sometimes, enjoy a walk in the park every now and then.

But there are things hidden keeping that normalcy safe. Keeping you safe. Perhaps it's about time you found out about them.

The Crown Nobles are a group who've obtained special magic gems from a spirit of some sort--most likely the spirit of light and order, Aurora. These gems grant the user superhuman strength and reflexes, a weapon, and two special abilities, often related to their personality. These weapons and abilities are the only things capable of taking out the mysterious black crystal monsters known as the chrys. These chrys, sometimes small, sometimes large, sometimes even humanoid, are led by a man known as Onyx, who's intent on causing chaos in the city and defeating the Nobles. As for his motives... they are still a mystery.

"We just know he goes by Onyx. I dunno if Aurora knows any more than that... I guess I could ask her."

But her curiosity was piqued at his statement. What did he mean, farther than she might think?

"Are there chrys in other cities too?" she asked, looking concerned. "There isn't much we can do outside of our town right now..."

As important as it was to take care of the chaos, they couldn't exactly take a cross-country trip in the middle of the school year. They had to be careful enough to balance their duties with their mundane responsibilities as is.

A name. That was better than nothing.

"If it was merely other cities, I wouldn't be here." A little chaos wouldn't grab Father's attention, not enough to send an angel to interfere. He hadn't done something like this in years. "You can't travel to other cities? Why not?"

Turquoise sighed and shook her head. This guy was still being obtuse.

"I can't just run off wherever whenever I want. I live here. I'd need a place to stay, a way to get there, and a lot of good excuses." She shrugged helplessly.

These concepts didn't really register in Michael's mind.

"But the safety of the people, of this world is at stake. That's more important than your general mundane activities or worries." What was going to school or worrying about money and friends. He never had to worry about travel or eating or sleeping.

"I know that!" she snapped, looking irritated.

"I'm sure it's great for you that you can go be a world traveler, but I can't just abandon my life here. I'm doing my job to fight the chyrs here, like Aurora told us. She said that was what we needed to do."

"I suppose I cannot fault you for following the orders of your leader." Even if he didn't quite understand why she put all of her fighters in only one city.

"If you take me to Aurora, I'll leave you alone."

At least he wasn't going to argue further about it. She let the topic drop, and looked puzzled at his request.

"To be honest, I don't really know where she is at night. I usually only see her during the day..."

She knew about the sacred fountain, but she wasn't even sure she could access it without the others' help. She didn't want to bother them when it was so late already.

Michael looked a little annoyed, but he just needed to be patient about this. One night wasn't long to him really, not when he lived for thousands of years.

"Then show me where you live. I'll be staying there until we can meet her." He didn't see any problem with this, it would be easier than just meeting up with her again.

"Absolutely not."

Her answer was immediate and made it clear there would be no further discussion on it.

"If you want to meet her, you can find the high school in the morning and ask for Ms. Aura before class starts. This is all a secret, so keep it quiet, okay?"

"I just walk in and ask for her? Will they not be suspicious of my motives?" Michael wasn't really familiar with the customs of this world, not really familiar of the ones in his own world either. He wouldn't care normally, but he'd rather not create a huge fuss and get kicked out before he could even talk to Aurora.

"And do not worry, I will not spread information around to others."

"Sure? It should be fine as long as you just say something like... I have something important to talk to her about. If it's before class, most teachers are free anyway."

She had to admit she was still curious about this guy's motives, but she imagined Aurora could take care of herself, and that she would likely tell the rest of them later after she spoke with him.

"Good. We have enough trouble getting people to forget what they've seen before they cause some kind of mass panic. The best thing to do is to keep everyone calm."

"And this class starts around eight in the morning?" Without needing to eat or sleep, he still had a lot of time to kill. Maybe he could fight more of these chrys, help get rid of them. Or go do some investigation, as much as he could anyway.

"Humans have a tendency to panic, I've seen them act as such before." Michael couldn't really keep himself from saying something like that, some habits die hard.

"Yep," she said with a slight nod. "I think teachers usually get there between six and seven. I dunno about Aurora... but I wouldn't be surprised if she was there early."

Given that she didn't exactly have a normal life outside of school... she would probably want to be there in case any of them wanted to ask something. She seemed considerate like that, especially considering the stakes.

"So you're not even kind of human?" she asked, obviously curious. Saying something like that made it clear that he didn't identify as one.

Michael merely nodded at the information, keeping that in mind when he paid a visit to her tomorrow. The girl had been helpful to some degree, but he didn't bother thanking her for anything yet. He figured that wasn't necessary, she should be giving him information so he could help.

"Not at all." He had his pride and while he respected humans to some degree, he didn't want to be called one still. It just wasn't who he was, what Father created him to be. "I'm assuming that you're human then, just given holy powers through a holy being?"

"Yeah, I'm just a normal person without this stuff," she admitted. "I'm not sure we have a lot other than humans, spirits, and the creatures the chaos creates."

She looked thoughtful for a moment. There certainly could be other things, she mused, given the fact that she only thought there were humans before, as far as sentient life went. But she wasn't sure if she'd find out.

The lack of thanks didn't seem to bother her. She was less concerned with manners and more concerned with the information they both needed. Saving people from the chrys was a thankless job anyway, given the fact that they always had to erase the person's memories afterwards...

"A mere human battling against creatures from the chaos." But despite his words, Michael sounded vaguely impressed. Of course she had holy powers, but she was still a human nonetheless. It wasn't like she was born or created to battle against demons or anything like that.

Still, Michael didn't ask her name yet. He was okay with calling her human or girl. "We'll most likely meet again."

"What's that supposed to mean?" she huffed. "It's not just me, you know, there are several of us. We've been doing a pretty good job so far."

But she let the subject go, not really looking to argue. "I don't figure it'll be you stopping by to say hi," she remarked. "Try not to get in over your head with these things or we'll have to come save you, okay?"

"Humans are rather weak creatures." Yep, he definitely wasn't holding back now. "Even if you're doing a decent job, the chaos is still leaking past your town. It isn't enough."

"Of course not. I don't make such pointless stops." Michael missed the intent of that remark. He still had a long way to go in understanding human behavior. "And I'll be just fine. Do not worry about my safety." The thought of being rescued by a bunch of humans was unappealing to say the least.

"You should probably learn some manners before talking with any other humans," she said, noticing that at this point it wasn't much use getting irritated. "But I guess you'll see if you need help or not. We'll be around if you need us."

Michael felt that he could make do without changing how he behaved towards humans. It worked before, worked right now, so why change what was working? "I will most likely be around as well. I'm here to help."

At least he looked sincere about that, even though his attitude was less to be desired.

"Well, we appreciate it."

Turquoise pulled out a small pocket watch to check the time and sighed. "It's getting pretty late, so I should go," she said, looking somewhat tired. "I guess I'll see you if I see you."
